Music Programmers:
Albert Assoon (Twilight Zone)

Albert Assoon came to the Toronto nightlife circa the late 70s when he and his brothers – the legendary Assoon Brothers operated the only nightclub on Richmond Street West at the time, appropriately called the Twilight Zone. He and his brother Tony showcased the hottest North American beats that started a huge crossover trend that 1200 to 1500 dance fans enjoyed every weekend. Patrons would delight in a melodic range from new wave to disco and funk and, finally, to early house and its offshoots. At the Twilight Zone, Albert Assoon put Toronto and house music -creators and creations alike - on the world-stage. On this special night expect to hear an innovative and eclectic mix of music that is exclusive to the formation of house underground subculture.

Groove Institute (Solid Garage Residents)

In 1995 YOGI, MARK & ANAND had their own radio show at the University of Toronto called the Groove Institute Mix Show. The shows name was subsequently used by the DJ collective to signal their mission: to educate and entertain people with the music that they loved. The collective had paid their dues travelling around the U.S. digging deep through the crates for rare old gems and immersing themselves in the underground warehouse scene of the late 80s/early 90s. They learned their lessons well and began putting their knowledge to work by establishing their premier night Solid Garage in 1998. In their quest for the perfect beat, the Groove Institute cover a wide selection of music, dropping soul, jazz, latin, afro, disco, garage, techno and deep house into the pot for a constantly evolving musical flavor and richness. The true garage vibe!
With special live performances by:
Robert Owens (Fingers Inc., Can You Feel It, Bing Down The Walls, Tears, I'll Be Your Friend / UK)

Ask any fan of dance music who their favourite male vocalist is and nine times out of ten Robert Owens name will come back. Sure, there are other great male house vocalists out there, but with more than twenty years as a gifted singer, songwriter, producer and DJ under his belt, Robert has not so much embellished house music as played a large part in defining it. 'Tears', 'I'll Be Your Friend' and 'Bring Down The Walls' are just some of the tunes that have borne his black velvet voice and gone on to become truly classic dance records. Robert Owens is one of dance music's true legends, a man who has his roots in the future and his feet planted firmly on the earth - and a man who has never been afraid of sharing himself with others. You are sure to get the full load of soul when Robert is performing with Toronto's King Sunshine Band. To fuse house music with real instrumentation has been a dream of Roberts for a long time. Let's bring down the wallsToronto!!!
King Sunshine (Deep House Collective Band)
